"Longing For Fall" Framed Prints by stonemonki | RedBubble

"Longing For Fall" Framed Prints by stonemonki | RedBubble:
Whilst out and about shooting places, and looking around for potential scenes, I decided to make use of the natural light and do something a little different with my landscape shots.
I arrived at this, it reminded me of fall, or autumn as it is also known. It is one time of the year, when some people long for it, simply because they were born in autumn or it is the very colour of the leaves, in the trees that they long for.

Whatever it may be it is a beautiful season, and I for one am longing for fall.

"Black Bridge" Framed Prints by stonemonki | RedBubble

"Black Bridge" Framed Prints by stonemonki | RedBubble: Black Bridge taken before the rain came down, I wanted to emphasise the dark brooding skies, the feeling I get when I see these is always one of wander. The weather in the UK is so diverse, and shooting the weather conditions in the UK and in monochrome, always brings out the character in the surrounding architecture.

Origins

So very early Monday morning whilst most of you were just getting up to go to work, I was heading for Llanberis. I had one purpose to photograph Llyn Padarn whilst in a calm state, the llyn was very calm, flat and a stillness I wished for.

I had also wanted the cloud that looks white and bubbly and forces itself upwards to the stratosphere, the reason for this was to get a collection of unique landscape shots of the Welsh Mountains.

I certainly achieved that, both resulting images done from a two - three stitch panorama. For the first entitled Mirror, Mirror I selected a small island on the lakeside, to which I could take a few light meter readings, adjust settings on camera, and set up my sturdy Manfrotto tripod to achieve these shots.

I certainly got what I came for!

A visit to the beautiful gardens of Bodnant produced a series of shots, I can be proud of.
The majority of which has been used for my portfolio for my course work.

I've come along way since November 2011, and I think my photography shows that style has come to the fore.

"Flow" Framed Prints by stonemonki | RedBubble

"Flow" Framed Prints by stonemonki | RedBubble: For me 'Flow' is a personal favourite, the diagonal line drawing your eyes around the frame and the movement of the water captured like liquid chocolate, a rich milky cream being poured over the top.

I could seriously stare into this for an hour or so, I just find it very calming and yet the movement in the water tells a different story. It is a pure image of tranquility and beautifully framed, although you can also purchase the image as a canvas print if you prefer, it could make a fitting Father's Day gift.

Fairground Attraction

The name of a band, and also a song. This shot was taken with a Samsung NX11. Although I don't use the camera no longer, the colours were really vivid. The build of the NX11 is really quite poor, the lenses material is quite weak compared to that of a Canon.

I have dropped a Canon lense at my home from a height of four feet, it still works perfectly fine compared to the Samsung NX11 from an equal height.

Shame really I did actually like the camera, but Samsung after sales care was at best redundant. Which moves me to say I would never purchase a Samsung product. It's really does come down to that old addage "You get what you pay for!", moving on am really happy with what my Canon has given me it's very versatile with the lenses I own, 70-300mm, 28-90mm and of course my wide 18-55mm lense.

They have all produced really stunning images, as you will see from redbubble link on my page, where upon you can purchase my images through a variety of mediums such as canvas print, matte mounted prints, posters and of course greeting cards!

So if you have a family birthday coming up, or another event maybe you can give the gift of a picture, worthwhile gesture!

Sometime too hot, the eye of heaven shines - Sonnet 18 - Shakespeare

Inspirational landscape work, this has been taken for a project am currently working on.

This was taken during a sudden snow storm, albeit the sun's rays were determined to get through to the mountainous landscape.

It does remind me of Shakespeares' sonnet 18 if you have not read his work, you should it's an eye opener.
